Finished!!

I created these layouts at a class given by Vicki Boutin at Scrapfest in the spring. At the class, we put together the mats, the titles and the embellishments, but left room for photos to be inserted. With Scrapfest coming up again, this time in Oshawa, I thought I'd better get these layouts completed before I made some more!!

My sister Stephanie and her boyfriend Nathan have visited several times this summer from Ottawa and each time they bring their cameras. They have been able to shoot interesting pics of my kids - all at a slightly different angle than I always shoot. It is neat to have their perspective on my 3 little munchkins.

Both of these layouts feature pictures shot by them at different times this summer.

Photobucket

My sister shot these pics of my sons and my father on a recent camping trip. Anytime my children can spend with their ailing Poppa I consider PRICELESS.

The journaling reads, "These ordinary moments couldn't be more beautiful to me. "

Love this picture of Camden. He looks very pensive and serious. Camden is usually our goofy prankster who gets joy out of bothering others. Yep, he may be our future bully and/or felon!!

Here is a closeup on the journaling:

Little Red Wagon - "Back to School"

Photobucket

It seemed like once a week I had to send a note to school with my son last year - "Mrs.B, Could you please help Bryn find his blue mitten? He left it at school AGAIN!"

This year I have 2 muchkins in school so my note-sending, I'm sure, will double. I try to keep cute notecards handy in my kitchen to write quick notes to school. I was nearly out when I checked the other day, so I for this "Little Red Wagon" Back to School challenge I made a handful of 3"x3" cards.

Photobucket

As a teacher myself, I know how nice to is to receive a pleasant note from a parent. In this case my notes to B & A's teachers will pleasant and pretty!

Photobucket

I made these in a "back to school" theme. Perhaps when these are gone, I'll make some "Autumn" theme ones. Then maybe Thanksgiving, then Hallowe'en, then......

A Gift for Baby Avery

My dear friend Kari had a beautiful baby girl about a month ago. When I went to meet little Avery I wanted to take a special gift. I knew that Kari and Ken had taken dozens of photos of their princess so I decided to give them something pretty and girly to hold all these precious shots.

I let Afton ( the queen of pretty and girly) help me pick which papers and embellishments I would use (All K&Compnay by the way!) and this is what I came up with:

Photobucket

I created a mini-book using a variety of patterned papers that I stitched together to form a "spine."

Inside, I added mats for 4x6 photos and spots for journalling. And some of the pages - well, I just made them pretty to look at! :)

I really hope Kari liked my creation. She sure seemed excited to receive it!!

High Tea

My lovely sister took my daughter and I out for High Tea for my birthday. We LOVED it!! I created this layout using pictures from that day.

Photobucket

Recently I have been admiring the scrapping style of Susan Weinroth. I love how she creates little groupings on her layouts and layers so many simple elements to create interest. I think this layouts mimics her style.

My 100th Post!!

Wow! 100 sure came fast. Thanks to everyone who has joined me along the way!!

Photobucket

In order to become the Guest Design Team Member for "Sketchy Thursdays" for the month of September, we had to submit a layout using this sketch.

I didn't really want to cut my photo into a circle shape (I used to do that 10 years ago!) so instead, I used a diecut paper as a photo mat.

Photobucket

I had held onto these Basic Grey papers for ever and I finally found a reason to use them.

Photobucket

The photo is a picture Kevin and I took while resting in a park in NYC while we walked around the island of Manhattan. It was wonderful to have some time with just the 2 of us.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sketchy Tursdays - "Chelsea"

Kevin and I recently took a 3-day trip to NYC. It was the first time we had gone away, just the 2 of us, since before we had Bryn almost 6 years ago.

I took a ton of pictures while we walked Manhattan Island. On this day we toured the Chelsea area of the island and visited "Highline Park" and Chelsea Market.

Highline is a 100 year old raised train line, slated for demolition in the 1990's. However, the people of Chelsea fought to keep it with the idea to turn it into greenspace. Now 15 years later, 2.4 km of trainline has been turned into park. It was neat to see the railway tracks hidden among the new plants and trees.

Photobucket

After walking the park, Kevin and I checked out Chelsea Market. Once again, New York has turned something old and rundown into something useful and beautiful. The Market is housed in a cookie factory built in the late 1800s. Instead of tearing it down, the city has removed some of the walls, added some benches and divided it into several shops. Each of these shops sells gourmet food- from wine to fine cheeses and specialty baking. For instance, there is a bakery that only sells brownies, and another that specializes in decorated sugar cookies. Amazing eh? It was definitely our kind of place!!

I'm Seeing a Theme.....

It's Circles!!

Over the last few days I have made a few projects which, without planning, have a circle theme.

First, here is an 8x8 layout I made about my daughter on a recent visit to a cottage on Silver Lake:

Photobucket

I used circles for the title letters and the border along the bottom.

By the way, my title was influenced after watching this simple tutorial:

http://bananafrog.typepad.com/bananafrogblog/2010/07/stamping-your-scrapbook-titles-heat-embossing.html

I also used one sheet of Making Memories Christmas paper to add 3 cards to my card stash:

"Hats"

I have been scrapping very little lately and I needed a little kick-start so I could get going on all of the photos I have taken so far this summer. While perusing the web for inspiration, I came across this sketch on the Page Maps Blog:

Photobucket

I knew I had several adorable pictures of my daughter trying on "tea time" hats, and I knew this feminine sketch would be perfect.

This is what I came up with:

Photobucket

I used some older rub-ons and papers by Autumn Leaves. The fabric flower is K&Company.

A Card "Scraplift"

Avril Tanner, card-maker extraordinaire, recently posted this card on her blog. Totally cute.

I had been dying to use this adorable scooter stamp from Imaginisce but I really wasn't sure how. So with Avril's inspiration, I made this:

LRW - Christmas in July

It's never too early to get started on Christmas, is it?

The ladies over at Little Red Wagon issued a "Christmas in July" challenge this week and even though I decided I wasn't going to do any challenges for a few weeks, I joined in anyways. Why? Because I bought this stamp yesterday:

Photobucket

I experimented using a silver sparkly ink pad, embossing with a translucent embossing powder and then decided I liked the look of the opaque powder.

Photobucket

I stuck with my pastel theme (a little something different for Christmas) and added polka dots from October Afternoon. The snowflake transparency is from Making Memories.

Photobucket

Merry Christmas!!
